Snack Probioticswon the 3rd Edition of the BIP – Business Ignition Programme. Rafaela Santos (CIIMAR/FCUP), Fábio Rangel (CIIMAR/FCUP), Ana Lavrador (CIIMAR/FCUP), Paula Enes (CIIMAR), Claudia Serra (CIIMAR) and Caio Souza (FEUP), presented an disruptive solution based on probiotic bacteria to prevent the most prevalent aquaculture bacterial fish diseases.
The second place was awarded to IDENTIFICA innovative products and services for genetic testing and diagnostic allowing the identification of biological samples.
To distinguish the outstanding performance during the programme, Porto Business School awarded Filipe Pereira from IDENTIFICA with a full scholarship for a Magellan MBA.

The 3rd edition of the Business Ignition Programme started full steam with a “Deep Dive” in innovation strategy. Twelve novel technology-based projects were exposed to a 20 hour immersive bootcamp on Blue Ocean Strategy® – an innovative approach focusing on strategic blue ocean thinking for sharpened business cases.
The immersive boocamp held at CIIMARfrom 1- 3 February 2018 aimed to provide a “facilitated innovation pressure cooker for ideas” – allowing ideas to raise from concepts to sustainable business models for new products, processes and services. Based on fast track to innovation process, BIP teams from U.Porto, CIIMAR and INESC TEC had the opportunity to explore and apply a set of disruptive tools and methodologies for the development of their business ideas, such as Value Innovation, Strategic Canvas, ERRC Grid, etc. For the next 12 weeks with the support from mentors, methodologies and resources, the business models will be iterated and validated on the market.
Bioaqua solutionswon the 1st Edition of the BIP – Business Ignition Programme 2017. Ana Ferreira (CIIMAR), Cristina Calheiros (CIIMAR) and Ester Almeida (FEP), presented innovative nature-based solutions focusing on the sustainable construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of ponds, lakes and other water bodies.
The second place was awarded to AWASER, a service developed at the Faculty of Engineering of U.Porto (FEUP) for public and private entities with the need to monitor water quality, providing an effective solution for water sampling in hard-to-reach areas.
In third place was Cropeo, a technology developed to protect agricultural dry products from contamination during its storage period, based on the controlled release of essential oils with insecticide, fungicide and bactericide effects.
